He did not rule out the possibility of a House vote on impeaching Trump by the end of the week. Senate Republicans have given little indication they would support Trump's removal.

Lawmakers and congressional aides said judiciary committee Democrats were drafting articles of impeachment with input from people including Pelosi and the heads of five other House committees that have investigated Trump. Cicilline all but confirmed that articles of impeachment could draw on Mueller's investigation. Ted Cruz, R-Texas, decried the impeachment proceedings as an obfuscation of the fact that Trump has instituted policies on Russian Federation that he described as tougher "by orders of magnitude" than former President Barack Obama's.

L-R: Constitutional law experts, Harvard Law School professor Noah Feldman, Stanford Law School professor Pamela Karlan, University of North Carolina Law School professor Michael Gerhardt and George Washington University Law School professor Jonathan Turley testify during a hearing before the House Judiciary Committee on the constitutional grounds for the impeachment of President Donald Trump, on Capitol Hill in Washington, on December 4, 2019.

It refers to the writings of former president George Washington and Thomas Jefferson and follows a hearing last week in which three of four constitutional law experts giving evidence said they believed Trump's actions had met the bar for impeachment. That comes after the House intelligence committee produced a 300-page report on its findings from 17 witnesses who testified in recent weeks.

Trump has nearly daily vented his wrath against the impeachment effort, even as his legal team has rejected Nadler's invitation for it to participate in the Judiciary Committee's hearings this week.

In releasing the report, the panel's Democratic chairman, Jerrold Nadler, said impeachment was the only way to hold the Republican president to account.

The report's authors say the inquiry followed rules similar to previous impeachments and note that if he is impeached, Mr. Trump will face a Senate trial, "where he may be afforded an opportunity to present an evidentiary defense and test the strength of the House's case".

Supreme Court keeps federal executions on hold
Protracted litigation over the drugs used in lethal injection executions prevented the government from continuing the practice. Purkey was convicted in the 1998 kidnapping, rape, murder and dismembering of a 16-year-old girl in Kansas.

On Monday, the committee will officially receive evidence against Trump at an open hearing.

Republicans have called for a full day of proceedings to examine their own evidence, including a 110-page report saying the inquiry had found no evidence of an impeachable offence.

On Thursday, Dec. 5, House Speaker Nancy Pelosi called for articles of impeachment, after four law professors-three of them chosen by House Democrats-presented their argument for impeachment on Wednesday.

Impeachment - all you need to know What is Mr Trump accused of? The House Intelligence Committee failed to make a decent case, let alone a good one, that showed the President committed impeachable crimes. As has been reiterated thousands of times, though apparently not enough to House Democrats, the alleged bribery is completely debunked by the fact that Ukraine received the aid WITHOUT Ukraine initiating new investigations into Burisma, the energy company that employed Joe Biden's son, Hunter.

But the current document is clearly meant to be a road map for Democrats, tracking closely with the allegations they have already made about Mr. Trump's conduct.

'There is considerable direct evidence, ' Nadler asserted to CNN host Dana Bash.
