Cavaliers now ready to listen to trade offers for Kevin Love

Until recently, the organization had shown no indication that it was willing to trade Love.

According to a report from ESPN's Adrian Wojnarowski, the Cavaliers - who are now in the midst of another lackluster season at 5-16 - are ready to listen to trade offers for the five-time All-Star and former National Basketball Association champion. If somebody blows them away with an offer, this is a team clearly still in a rebuild. National Basketball Association trade possibilities expand on December 15, when players who signed contracts over the summer are able to be moved.

Kevin Love is arguably the best player in the Cleveland Cavaliers right now, but he might not be around for much longer. He has averaged 18.2 points and 11.2 rebounds across 12 National Basketball Association seasons, which included the first six years with the Minnesota Timberwolves and the past six years with Cleveland. His ability to stretch the floor makes him a tough cover for defenses as well. The 31-year-old signed a four-year, $120 million extension with Cleveland in July of 2018.

Cleveland is 5-16 this season and is in the process of rebuilding with freshman John Beilein.

Now in the middle of a rebuild, trading Love, 31, for younger talent or even draft picks could be a wise move. It's somewhat unlikely Love would be around for their next real contender if he stays, and even more unlikely that he will be a player worth $30 million in cap space to them by then.
