Rashford's goal at Manchester City in Saturday's 2-1 derby win was his 16th in 27 games for club and country this season - one less than he scored in the entirety of the previous campaign.

Manchester United manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer says it is "easy to compare" Marcus Rashford with Cristiano Ronaldo.

Rashford has been tremendous for United and has already netted 13 goals across competitions this season.

Solskjaer also felt that the 22-year-old's hot streak in front of goal would continue as long as "he keeps being positive and direct". However, it is crisis time at the Wanda Metropolitano, with Atleti lying seventh in the league with just one win the last six games, and their star summer signing João Felix failing to adapt to the demands of the Spanish League.

Rashford has scored 58 goals and recorded 30 assists in 191 appearances for United's senior side, and has won the FA Cup, League Cup, Community Shield and UEFA Europa League during his time with the first team.

He joined the Serie A champions in 2018.

With a youth force in attack, the future for United looks promising.

Solskjaer said: "It is very easy to compare them, yes".

"They are always going to get opportunities if they show a willingness to learn, the attitude that we expect from a Manchester United player, the skills and of course the performances".
