Sportsmail reported last week that Gerrard was in discussions over a new contract with the Ibrox club that would run until 2024 - which would add two years onto his current terms that he signed in 2018.

"But I think you could see clearly what it meant to the players to represent this club on Sunday and I loved every minute of our reaction".

Gerrard was named the club's manager in May 2018 and the Liverpool legend guided Rangers to a runners-up finish in his first season at the helm.

Tonight they take on Young Boys at Ibrox in a must-win game.

Rangers could still make it through if they lose on Thursday but the Gers need to get back to winning ways after drawing a Pittodrie then losing at Hampden.

New 12-month contracts for goalkeeper McGregor, 37, and 34-year-old midfielder Davis have also been agreed, according to Gerrard.

China says it is in 'close communication' with U.S. as tariffs loom
Beijing has threatened to retaliate if Washington goes ahead with plans to raise duties on $160 billion of Chinese imports. Trump himself has blown hot and cold, repeatedly insisting that China needs a deal more than the United States does.

Gerrard - who missed out on winning his first trophy as a manager with Sunday's Betfred Cup final defeat to Celtic - said: "Alan McGregor and Steven Davis' deals are imminent".

"So I think they are getting closer and I think Gerrard signing for another four years is brilliant news for the Rangers fans".

"Jermain's is a bit different because he's a Bournemouth player until the end of the season but it's a similar situation in the fact that we want him to stay around". We are happy to have him here and I hope he stays and continues to score goals for us.

"At a club like Rangers you have to take the rough with the smooth, we are trying to create a real humble squad".

Rangers have told Alfredo Morelos they will not let him leave the club in the January window even for a gargantuan fee, Football Insider can reveal. We are ready to go.
