The Game Awards is kicking off strong this year with Godfall, the first video game officially announced for PS5. Gearbox, the publisher, is still the king of looter-shooter games, but Godfall is going to be something different the all too popular space western series. A teaser trailer was revealed during The Game Awards 2019. It'll be a decent launch title; while we've yet to see if the title has any real depth we can at least expect the game to be a visual powerhouse.

In terms of gameplay Godfall will be a third-person action RPG which is playable solo, in pairs, or in a trio co-operatively. The loot chase will be a central conceit to the game, as will epic encounters with "vicious" enemies. Come watch this cinematic for shiny armour and talk of "a thousand-year war, just to the start the apocalypse". "No storm can stop us", one states, as a pretty scary three-headed creature swirls around the tower, lighting and storms battering the landscape.

In a statement from Counterplay Games CEO Keith Lee (and the game's creative director), Godfall is aiming to "provide a fresh take on action RPGs by rewarding skill-based offensive gameplay and making every hit matter". "Counterplay Games is aiming to feed into that yearning for the next best piece in your character build, so they plan to provide plenty of loot to players to ensure there's meaningful impact to gameplay and playstyles".
