John Carlson notched a goal and an assist, becoming the seventh defenseman in league history to produce at least five game-winning goals through the first 33 games of a season. The Capitals trailed 2-0 until Alex Ovechkin cut the deficit in half 40 seconds into the third period off assists from Dmitry Orlov and Nicklas Backstrom.

Pastrnak ripped a ideal shot over goalie Braden Holtby's left shoulder midway through the first period for his league-best 26th goal of the season.

For some odd reason, the Capitals always find a way to beat the Bruins and this always seems to be a bad matchup for Boston.

Stamkos also scored from the slot during a power play, tying it 1-all at 12:35 of the second.

This loss followed a similar pattern to Wednesday's defeat in DC, too, as the Bruins opened the night's scoring behind a goal from a member of their superpowered top-line thanks to Patrice Bergeron's 10th of the year, but saw their lead evaporate thanks to some power-play domination from the hometown Bolts. It was Stamkos who scored twice, giving him six in his past four games, and closed out the win with a strong check in the final seconds.

Brayden Point scored his 100th career goal and assisted for Tampa Bay. Columbus added its final goal 16 seconds later.

As Boston Bruins fans, we were privileged to witness three Winter Classics, two of which had terrific endings.

NOTES: Bruins D Torey Krug went to the X-ray room after the game.

GCC Summit Calls For Boosting Security, Military Coordination Between Gulf States
Riyadh and Washington blame Iran for the assault as well as earlier strikes this year on tankers in Gulf waters. In September, a sophisticated missile and drone attack destroyed oil installations in Saudi Arabia.

There was also some great goaltending in this game as well.

Tuukka Rask (28.2 saves per game) has been the primary choice in the net for Boston. I am taking the Capitals to win against the slumping Bruins, but I think the best bet is Boston to cover.

"I thought that's the kind of hockey that [we] want to play and you want to get back to", said Bergeron of a Bruins team that's taken just one out of a possible eight points in their last four games. At the moment, Washington now sits in first place in the Metropolitan Division with a 23-5-5 record with 51 points so far this season. The Bruins are a respectable 8-4-1 on the road this season and they lost 3-2 in a SO at home to the Capitals earlier in the year. Their record so far this season is 20-6-6 with 46 points so far this season.

This game features two of the more aggressive teams in the league.

The Caps and Bruins met once this season already back on November 16 in a game that would result in a insane shootout victory for Washington.

I am curious to see how Boston and Washington continue to improve as the season moves on.

The Washington Capitals will have a couple of days off. Tampa Bay leads the league with 6.4 assists per game, led by Nikita Kucherov averaging 0.8.
