Bob Boughner, who led the Windsor Spitfires to consecutive Memorial Cups, has moved up in the coaching staff of the San Jose Sharks. San Jose made the playoffs again the following three years under DeBoer, losing to eventual champion St. Louis in last season's conference final in six games.

With 33 points through 30 contests, the Rangers have catapulted themselves back into postseason contention in the Eastern Conference. The Sharks went on the road for four games and lost all four, collecting only a single point in a shootout loss to Carolina. DeBoer was in his fifth season as head coach but the Sharks had been ousted in the first round of the playoffs in each of the past three years.

Eleven teams in the Western Conference have tallied more than the Sharks' 32 points in the standings.

Under is 8-2-1 in Sharks last 11 in the fourth game of a 4-in-6 days situation.

DeBoer was 198-129-34 in four-plus seasons in San Jose.

Max: Former Boeing Manager Claims To Have Raised Concerns Before The Crashes
He retired in August 2018, before the first crash, in part because he wasn't comfortable with the conditions at Boeing. Pierson did not raise concerns about the particular system linked to the crashes, a guidance system known as MCAS.

One-third of the way through the regular season, Rangers' fans are still trying to figure out what to make of this team.

A person with direct knowledge of the move said the team made a decision to let DeBoer go with the team on a five-game losing streak out five points out of playoff contention. However, despite the new addition and scoring in bunches, the Rangers haven't been great resulting in a 15-12-3 record and sixth in the Metropolitan Division.

Sommer, most recently the head coach of the San Jose Barracuda (@sjbaracuda), is the all-time leader in games coached and wins in the history of the American Hockey League, posting a 772-664-48-153 (W-L-T-OTL/SOL) record.

San Jose has endured an inconsistent season.

DeBoer was in his fifth season behind the bench with San Jose. The Sharks have also struggled on the power play, converting just 16 percent of their opportunities with the man advantage through their first 33 games. The 29-year-old is 12-12-1 with a 3.23 GAA and.891 save percentage in 25 starts this season.
