Airtel WiFi Calling Crosses 1 Million Users

Indian telecom service provider Bharti Airtel has finally made its voice of WiFi (VoWiFi) service available across India, with a few exceptions.

Airtel now supports Wi-Fi calling in select circles - such as Mumbai, Kolkata, Andhra Pradesh, Karnataka and Tamil Nadu - and requires its users to be a subscriber of Airtel broadband service.

Talking to mediapersons, COO-Bharti Airtel, Gujarat Navneet Sharma said that this service leverages cutting edge technology to enhance the indoor voice calling experience for Airtel smartphone customers.

Let us understand that if consumers desire to activate Jio Wi-Fi calling in their particular Smart Phone, chances are they should will get on.

This announcement is made just two days after one of its rival Reliance Jio announced its free voice and video calls over any Wi-Fi networks across India.

If you are using an Android phone, go to the Settings menu and search for Wi-Fi calls. Jio claims that voice and video calls will seamlessly switch over between VoLTE and Wi-Fi network.

Following Jio, Bharti Airtel will also be soon rolling out its VoWiFi service pan-India.

Turn on the Wi-Fi Calling toggle. To use this service users will need to enable the setting first by heading to the Settings menu of their smartphone.

The Jio Wi-Fi calling service is compatible with more than 150 smartphones and we expect more and more phones to be added to this list in the coming weeks.

Over 100 smartphone models across 16 brands including Xiaomi, Samsung, OnePlus, Apple, Vivo, Micromax etc. are now compatible with Airtel Wi-Fi Calling, the telco said.

Jio also advertises seamless automatic transition between VoLTE and Wi-Fi calling and, even suggests that you should keep both connections active for the best possible experience.
