Sania Mirza Makes Winning Return To Tennis, Shares Adorable Picture With Son

After a gap of nearly two years due to injury and pregnancy, Sania made a return to the WTA circuit with an opening-round in women's doubles at the Hobart International on Tuesday.

Indian tennis player Sania Mirza and her Ukrainian partner Nadia Kichenok advanced to the women's doubles quarterfinals of the Hobart International here on Tuesday.

Sania and her partner, who are unseeded in the tournament presently, will face the American pair of Christina McHale and Vania King.

In an engaging showdown, Sania and Kichenok weren't off to a particularly good start as they double-faulted twice, failed to convert any of the seven break points that came their way and lost their serve two times to go down 2-6 in the opening set.

Sania and Kichenok raised the bar in the final set and displayed superior returns to emerge triumphant.

Sania is playing the tournament as a warm-up to the upcoming Grand Slam, the Australian Open.

Notably, It hasn't been a very easy last couple of years for the 33-year-old tennis superstar as she was plagued by a knee injury in October 2017 which caused her to briefly bid goodbye to the beloved courts.

Considering Sania's tennis career, she has a fine career, having won three women's doubles Slam titles. The star player had to take a break from her successful journey on the court, when she announced her pregnancy and had a baby boy in October 2018. She reached 27th place in the 2007 WTA singles rankings.
