Robert Downey Jr. has just teased on the possibility that we haven't seen the last of his character.

"This all started - and this is so surreal - but I was such a fan of Mr. Robot", Downey said.

Directed by Anthony and Joe Russo, Avengers: Endgame stars Robert Downey Jr., Chris Evans, Mark Ruffalo, Chris Hemsworth, Scarlett Johansson, Jeremy Renner, Don Cheadle, Paul Rudd, Brie Larson, Karen Gillan, Danai Gurira, Benedict Wong, Jon Favreau, Bradley Cooper, Gwyneth Paltrow, and Josh Brolin. I'm excited for them to see how all of that goes.

"I couldn't even believe it was you", Malek, 38, replied.

Downey Jr. then jumped in, joking: "I hired writers!" However, no one knows if that's going to happen or not. "This friendship has continued, you came to visit me on set, I couldn't believe that".

Lorene Scafaria ( Hustlers ) and Marielle Heller ( A Beautiful Day in the Neighbourhood ) had also been in the conversation. In the history of the Academy Awards , only five female directors have managed to get a nod in the Directing category.

Downey Jr. gushed: "Oh that was so cool!"

The two now star together in the upcoming movie Dolittle, which Malek revealed was all down to the Avengers star. "You didn't let me weird you out, and now we're friends". "Of course, this usually goes through a number of agents and whatnot, but when RDJ calls you, it's like, 'Yeah, sure, I'll come do it'".

"Tom Holland is in "Dolittle" because of Robert", the film's director Stephen Gaghan said about the reason behind the duo's reunion. The film also features the voices of Emma Thompson, Rami Malek, John Cena, Kumail Nanjiani, Octavia Spencer, Tom Holland, Craig Robinson, Ralph Fiennes, Selena Gomez and Marion Cotillard to name a few. He will star as Doctor Dolittle, who has the ability to speak to animals, as he sets sail on an epic adventure.

Dolittle lands in United Kingdom cinemas on 7 February.
