Springsteen's son Sam joins Jersey City's Firefighters Bruce Springsteen

Bruce Springsteen and wife Patti Scialfa looked on proudly as their 26-year-old son Sam was invested into Jersey City's Fire Department on Tuesday.

The Boss and Scialfa sat in the front row as their son was sworn into the newest class.

Springsteen, 25, was sworn in as a new minister on Tuesday.

"It was a long road, and he was very dedicated", his proud father said. "We're just thrilled for him today".

The youngest of Bruce and singer-songwriter Patti Scialfa's three children had been a member of the Colts Neck Fire Department close to his folks' home.

Asked what it mean to be a firefighter in Jersey City, Sam shyly said, "I'm going to take a pass on this one".

Sam's mom broke the news last summer when his she posted on her Instagram "you followed your dreams". We got to spend some time in my office talking about music but more than that they're proud parents of a new JC Firefighter.

Since 2013, 204 new firefighters have been hired, bringing the department to a historic total of 666 firefighters and superiors in uniform.

Her father and mother, Bruce Springsteen and Patti Scialfa, were on hand for the swearing-in of their son.
