Coolock: Human remains discovered in Dublin suburb

Police are carrying out on investigation after a bag of human limbs was discovered on a residential road in Coolock, north Dublin.

Gardai are investigating a possible link between the remains in the auto and the human limbs found in a sports bag in Coolock yesterday (Tuesday) morning.

Officers were alerted shortly before 22:00 local time on Monday when what are understood to be human limbs were found in a sports bag outside houses in Coolock. The Irish Independent report that a group of teens made the grim discovery.

The bag reportedly contains arms and legs.

The victim has not been identified, and police have been looking through recent missing persons reports to assist in identifying the victim.

Investigations are also underway to establish how the dismembered body parts came to be in the estate, with Gardaí said to be verifying reports that they had been dumped by a passing vehicle which fled the scene. The young man had been threatened with abduction, murder, and bodily dismemberment.

Crime officers are now examining the scene, which has been sealed off.

The Garda Technical Bureau have been notified and the Office of the State Pathologist and the Coroner have been notified.
