Fit-again Prithvi Shaw departs for NZ to join India 'A'

Injured Indian pacemaker Bhuvneshwar Kumar has been operated on for a sports hernia in London and will begin re-education at the National Cricket Academy (NCA) after returning to the country, the BCCI announced Thursday. It will be interesting to see if he gets fit for the Indian Premier League (IPL) in time which is reportedly set to commence on March 29 where he will feature for the Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH).

He will now be back in contention for the third opener's slot in the India Test squad for the New Zealand series. He will commence his rehabilitation at Bengaluru's National Cricket Academy (NCA), it added.

BCCI president Sourav Ganguly had then gone on to state that every India cricketer will have to go through the NCA for rehabilitation while promising to streamline the facility's infrastructure and administration.

In addition, as reported by PTI on Wednesday, BCCI said young drummer Prithvi Shaw left for New Zealand to join the India A team after completing rehabilitation for a shoulder injury.

India "A" are scheduled to play three unofficial ODIs and two unofficial Tests against New Zealand "A".

Shaw has been made available for all formats of the game and left for New Zealand to join the India A squad.

India "A" begins their particular promotion with a three-match one-day show followed closely by two four-dayers from January 22.

Shaw had recently suffered a shoulder injury while diving to save an overthrow during Mumbai's Ranji Trophy game against Karnataka. Prithvi has traveled to New Zealand and will soon switch to India A, "the board said". The series finale is in Bengaluru on January 19.
