Manchester United have agreed to personal terms with Bruno Fernandes, but the transfer hinges on finding an agreement with Sporting Lisbon, sources have told ESPN.

Silas confirmed that Fernandes will feature against Benfica on Friday as a protracted transfer to Old Trafford this month remains so distance from completion.

Reports in Portugal suggest United will make a €70 million bid to Sporting for the Portugal worldwide, who scored 31 goals in 50 appearances in all competitions for the Lisbon club last season.

This may be the reason behind Sporting's additional demands for Fernandes and hopefully, United can find the breakthrough at the earliest such that the midfielder can be integrated into the team ahead of a busy schedule which includes key games in the FA Cup and League Cup. "When you have a player like him, it's normal that many people want him".

Sporting, who are now fourth in the Primeira Liga, host leaders Benfica at the Jose Alvalade Stadium at 21:15 GMT on Friday.

"Bruno is not worth the money that is being said, he is worth a lot more", Silas said.

"He is an extraordinary player, the best and most valuable in the league, as he was last season", he added.

"In addition to attacking better than anyone in our country, he still gives the most to defend".

The report states that Sporting Lisbon were demanding £68 million for Fernandes, while Manchester United were willing to offer only £50 million, although the Red Devils were prepared to offer a player - either Marcos Rojo or Joel Pereira - in exchange.
