The Witcher on track to be Netflix’s biggest series debut ever

According to the report, 76 million "households" watched the show during its first four weeks of availability, which puts it on track to be Netflix's biggest season one debut ever for a series.

It will be interesting to see if the second season can break the 76 million barrier, especially considering Disney's streaming service Disney Plus will be coming to the United Kingdom and Europe in March to go head to head with Netflix for viewers and subscribers.

Since then, Netflix has reported that it's been watched by 76 million households worldwide in its firt month on release.

As a further testament to the series" success, the letter continued, "the show's launch drove up sales of The Witcher books and games around the world, and spawned a viral musical hit'. And of course, we can't forget the impact of 'Toss a Coin to Your Witcher, ' which has been modded into both The Witcher 3 and Beat Saber. As noted by Redanian Intelligence, writer Beau DeMayo, who wrote episode three of the first season and is set to write an episode of the new season, is now attached to a film project titled The Witcher: Nightmare of the Wolf. For Netflix, "household" means a single account on the service, and "watched" means "chose to watch and did watch for at least two minutes".

They say that it levels the playing field for all the different types of content on their platform, such as long titles, short titles and interactive content.
