The U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention confirmed San Diego's second novel coronavirus case Wednesday afternoon.

The request, signed by various evacuees in Wuhan, China, includes a cover page which reads,"Suggestion Letter to CDC". The person arrived in the USA last week on a State Department flight from Wuhan, China and was hospitalized with three others after showing possible symptoms of the virus, CNN said.

The two patients "arrived on different planes and were housed in separate facilities; there are no epidemiologic links between them", a CDC statement said.

"But CDC will carry out a thorough contact investigation as part of its current response strategy to detect and contain any cases of infection with this virus".

The patient was one of hundreds flown back to the United States from Wuhan, China, the epicenter of a now-global outbreak that has taken more than 1,000 lives.

Officials say she was isolated at the base for testing and sent back to a hospital after results came back. All passengers on that flight have been under a federal 14-day quarantine since landing in the U.S.

USA officials reported the 15th case of coronavirus in the United States on Thursday, saying the patient was among those who had been evacuated from Wuhan, China, and placed under federal quarantine at Lackland Air Force Base in San Antonio, Texas. "They do not wish to bring back this virus out to the general public and possibly infect their own families every time they're published", Wilson stated. More than 43,000 cases of the illness have been reported worldwide, the vast majority of them in China.

"And at this point none of them have come down with the virus and we think that's good news".

All three patients are "doing well, " according to hospital officials.

The World Health Organization (WHO) announced on Tuesday that it hopes to have a vaccine for the novel coronavirus within 18 months, but until then, countries will have to make do with what they already have.

Almost 200 Americans arrived at March Air Reserve Base in Riverside on January 29 and were quarantined there after being evacuated from Wuhan.

The CDC did not immediately return inquiries Tuesday morning, and UC San Diego Health representatives did not clarify why the released patient's test results changed to positive. That person's arrival raises the total number hospitalized after quarantine at Miramar to eight, according to the Los Angeles Times. Of the 13 cases, she said 11 cases occurred in people who had travelled to or from Wuhan.
