The big move, of course, was a blockbuster trade with the Boston Red Sox to send Mookie Betts and David Price to L.A. It originally was set to be a three-team trade with the Minnesota Twins, but the Red Sox had issues with the medicals of Twins pitching prospect Brusdar Graterol, which put things on hold.

"We appreciate what both Mookie and David brought to our club, and are grateful that they will forever be Red Sox World Series champions".

"I have a lot of memories in Boston". "That was a great chapter in my life".

"Definitely going to be pretty special", Betts said.

Betts' arrival is huge for the Dodgers, who won their last World Series title in 1988.

IBM and Oracle were previously eliminated from the contract process, which they both protested , but lost, in court. The contract involved a 10-year project to build a so-called "war cloud" for the military, labeled "JEDI".

"While the organisation in its entirety very much wanted to see Mookie in a Red Sox uniform for the length of his career, we believe in this decision as we are responsible and accountable for both the present and the future of the Red Sox".

Betts will keep his No. 50 jersey, chosen long ago because "nobody wants it", he said.

And compared with the initial agreement, it cost them nothing more from their 2020 team, only prospects Jeter Downs and Connor Wong, who are considered likely to reach the majors no earlier than 2021.

After a few more days of negotiating, the Dodgers were able to complete the deal with the Red Sox, and then also a second trade with the Twins to acquire the hard-throwing Graterol for themselves.

For Price, it's a reunion with Dodgers president of baseball operations Andrew Friedman. Obviously the success he's had is evident and everybody knows about that, but he was as good of a teammate as I've ever seen. "I've watched him grow and continue to evolve on the mound".
