Dwyane Wade recently revealed that his son, formerly known as Zion, is now Zaya because she is a transgender female.

Wendy Williams was overcome with emotion while discussing the news that Dwyane Wade's 12-year-old - now Zaya Wade - came out as transgender. "It's like you're not even living as yourself, which is like the dumbest concept to me", Zaya said. "I think going forward I'm ready to live my truth, '" Wade told Ellen.

"Man, I remember bugging my mom as a kid telling her I wanted a brother so bad", Zaire said in his note.

And in a second post, Union said: "Huge huge huge THANK YOU to everyone whose dms I slid into, friends, & family who provided information, resources, love & encouragement".

Wade described that moment. "Zion, born as a boy, came home and said, "Hey, so I want to talk to you guys". Right now, it's through us, because she's [sic] 12 years old, but eventually, it will be through her [sic]. We take our roles and responsibilities as parents very seriously'.

On Feb. 12, the couple's support for Zaya continued, with Gabrielle sharing several tweets about her daughter and a video clip that shows the girl driving a golf cart with Dwyane.

Zaire, along with Gabrielle Union, was the first to come to Zaya's defense when she was criticized for wearing a crop top and acrylic nails in a family photo.

"Meet Zaya. She's compassionate, loving, whip smart and we are so proud of her", Gabrielle wrote.

"I know it can get tough, but I think you push through and be the best you", she responds. She noted that although times have become more accepting there are many people who are still set in their ways, but "you've gotta just push through". It's worth it when you reach that point of, yourself'. "We just tried to figure out as much information as we can to make sure we give our child the best opportunity to be her best self".

"Internally, now it's our job to go out and get information, to reach out to every relationship that we have", Wade told the TV host.

If your child identifies as LGBTQ+, it's an opportunity to not just be supportive of them as individuals, but also to offer support and advocacy for the entire community.

Proud parents: Zaya is Dwyane's daughter from his previous marriage.
