A ninth case of coronavirus has been confirmed in the United Kingdom after a patient was taken to hospital in south London on Wednesday.

"I would like to thank the clinical team who treated Mr. Walsh in hospital" along with staff who worked hard "to limit the spread of coronavirus and treat the small numbers who have contracted the illness", he said.

"Anyone with any health concerns should contact NHS 111".

It comes as the two-week quarantine at Arrowe Park Hospital in Merseyside of 83 United Kingdom nationals flown back to Britain from Wuhan is set to end on Thursday morning, amid reports they have all tested negative for coronavirus.

Termed as a "super spreader" Mr Walsh contracted the disease while at a business conference in Singapore. "I was advised to be in an isolation room at hospital, despite showing no symptoms, and subsequently self-isolated myself at home as instructed", he added.

"As soon as I knew I had been exposed to a confirmed case of coronavirus I contacted" health officials in the United Kingdom, he added.
