A healthcare worker at Worthing Hospital is among the eight confirmed cases of coronavirus in the UK.

"I would like to thank the NHS for their help and care and although I have fully recovered, my thoughts are with the other people who have contracted coronavirus", he said.

Walsh said as soon as he realized he had been exposed to a confirmed case of the virus, he spoke to his doctor and public health authorities.

The hospital is said to be operating as normal.

Steve Walsh left Guy's and St Thomas' NHS Foundation Trust in London having made a full recovery.

The man, who was the first Briton to have tested positive for coronavirus, is in an isolation unit at London's St. Thomas Hospital and officials are on tracking down all the people he had contact with, especially those he travelled with on his United Kingdom return flight.

Tim Loughton, Conservative MP for East Worthing and Shoreham, said on Wednesday that a number of Global Positioning System from Brighton were among those staying in the French ski chalet with Mr Walsh.

The World Health Organisation has announced a name for the new coronavirus - Covid-19.

Meanwhile, it is understood two prisoners at HMP Bullingdon in Oxfordshire are being tested for the illness and are being held in isolation. A further five cases linked to the chalet have been confirmed in France, plus one more in Spain.

Joe Jonas and Sophie Turner expecting first child
The couple's last major public appearance together was the the 2020 Grammys , where Jonas, 30, performed What A Man Gotta Do . If the rumors about Joe and Sophie's pregnancy are true , the baby would be the third Jonas kid from the JoBros.

"I also thank friends, family, and colleagues for their support during recent weeks and I ask the media to respect our privacy".

"I was advised to be in an isolation room at hospital, despite showing no symptoms, and subsequently self-isolated myself at home as instructed", he added.

Walsh is still in quarantine in a hospital in London but issued a statement saying he's doing well and expressing gratitude to the National Health Service (NHS).

Their direct contact with patients is thought to be limited to about 12 people, although they have come into contact with non-patients and other NHS staff, all of whom have been traced and given advice, according to Public Health England (PHE).

Earlier, Professor Paul Cosford, emeritus medical director of Public Health England (PHE), said "contact tracing" run by PHE was "working very well".

Given that an infected individual spreads the virus to two other people on average, the British man is being considered a "super-spreader".

Chris Whitty, England's Chief Medical Officer, said in a statement that the new cases were known contacts of a previously confirmed United Kingdom case and the virus was passed on in France.

The development came as at least nine schools in Brighton, Hove and Eastbourne in East Sussex informed families that some of their pupils or staff had been told to self-isolate.
