Ricky Stenhouse Jr. and Alex Bowman are the first two drivers to qualify for next Sunday's Daytona 500.

Ricky Stenhouse Jr. made JTG-Daugherty Racing "the little team that could" on Sunday afternoon during Busch Pole Qualifying for the 62nd annual Daytona 500. He will start in first place, while Alex Bowman will start in second place.

Thursday's duel qualifying races will set the lineup for the remainder of the field.

Even so, the Hendrick Motorsports entries clearly have speed: Stenhouse receives power from Hendrick, and Hendrick drivers Bowman, Chase Elliott and Jimmie Johnson were second through fourth on the speed chart.

Ricky Stenhouse Jr. needed just two days to get his new team to the top.

"We definitely have a vehicle fastest enough to win this race under green-flag conditions", said the 20-year-old Haley, who is now driving for Kaulig Racing.

Second coronavirus case confirmed in San Diego
There will likely be additional cases in the coming days and weeks, including among other people recently returned from Wuhan. This patient is the first individual under quarantine who has experienced symptoms and tested positive.

Defending race victor Denny Hamlin was the fastest Toyota qualifier in fifth, followed by teammate Kyle Busch and Aric Almirola, who led the Ford contingent with the seventh-quickest lap of the day. Obviously, we've got quite a few Hendrick cars lined up behind us. I'm really proud to put our Kroger Chevy on the pole on Kroger pole day for the Daytona 500. Justin Haley and Brendan Gaughan, the youngest and oldest drivers on the Daytona 500 entry list, landed those.

Last year, Trump also praised retired driver Mario Andretti, the Daytona 500 victor in 1967, reminiscing about a ride Andretti gave him in a race vehicle for his reality show "The Apprentice". "This is a totally different world than what I've been used to, but it's a world I dreamed of racing in when I was a kid growing up in San Diego". He has one top-five finish in 62 career Cup starts, at Talladega in 2004.

"I know Brian believes in what JTG has back at the shop, the engines we have and resources available".

"I think he's the kind of guy that would keep you calmed down", Keslowski said of McConaughey.

"I'm looking forward to hopefully continuing this momentum on Thursday".
