"It's how the world is now that it's a private thing, I get the letter, I respond, and the next day it's in the newspaper".

"But I love even more if we can keep that (rivalry) on the pitch".

"Dear Jurgen Klopp, my name is Daragh, I am 10 years old". I go to Glenswilly N.S in Donegal.

A young Manchester United supporter called Daragh had grown so frustrated at Liverpool's success that he chose to contact the man responsible for it directly.

Liverpool are on course to win the Premier League and have not lost a league fixture so far this season. Just as you want to lose Liverpool, my job is to do everything to help Liverpool win, there are millions of people around the world who want it, I can not fail them. It is a moment that young Daragh will forever cherish, regardless of him being a United fan.

It's 30 years since they last won the league title, but now it's surely only a matter of time until that run ends. You just have to give the other team a chance to score. I hope I have convinced you not to win the league or any other match again.

Mr Curley said he was shocked the German coach had replied.

Klopp said Curley's letter was a good idea when asked about the exchange in a news conference on Friday, although he was slightly disappointed the private message had been widely reported.

The German's response was brilliant.

Speaking to the BBC yesterday, Daragh revealed why he took the step of writing the letter in the first place.

"Cheeky, 10-years-old, which I think is a nice age where you should start being cheeky and it was smart as well".

Naturally, Klopp did not agree to the request, although he used a subtle way of saying it: "Unfortunately, this time I can not guarantee that I will access your request".

"There are millions of people around the world who want that to happen so I really do not want to let them down".

Klopp explained to the 10 year old Manchester United fan why he couldn't grant his request.

After reading your letter, what I can be sure of is your passion for football and your team.

"United are lucky to have you".

He even stated he hoped young Daragh would not be too dissatisfied if Liverpool saved winning trophies, as "although our golf equipment are fantastic rivals we also share a good respect for every single and, to me, that is what soccer is all about". "This, to me, is what football is all about". "Take care and good luck, Jürgen".
