In third place, down one spot from last week, was Warner Bros. superhero film Birds of Prey, at US$7 million.

Paramount has pushed back the China release of "Sonic the Hedgehog", which was originally set to debut in the country on February 28, due to concerns over the growing coronavirus epidemic.

"Sonic", which is looking at a decent 54% drop from its video game adaptation record $58 million opening, is now estimated to have a 10-day total of $107 million.

It will also introduce "new frontiers" of games that will feature cross overs with education, fashion, arts and other industries. The game is now only releasing on PS4, though as a timed exclusive we expect it to hit the Xbox One and PC some time next year.

Call of the Wild, a production that Disney inherited from 20th Century Studios, marked the live-action debut of animation veteran Chris Sanders. It now maintains the same score as Sonic on Rotten Tomatoes with 63%. With the exception of some modest profits from a couple of films like the Oscar-winning "Ford v Ferrari" and the low-budget faith-based film "Breakthrough", the Fox slate Disney acquired has not been a major moneymaker but rather an extra cost Disney has taken on in order to acquire recognizable IP like "Avatar" and "The Simpsons" for Disney+ and future theatrical releases. In fourth is STX/Lakeshore's "Brahms: The Boy II", which is estimated to earn an opening of $6 million from 2,151 screens, meeting pre-release projections. However, critical and audience reception were both poor with a C- on CinemaScore and a Rotten Tomatoes score of 9%.

Sony Pictures' Bad Boys for Life retained its spot in fifth place after earning an additional $5.9 million over the weekend, bringing the domestic total up to $191.2 million after six weeks. The movie's domestic cume of $106.6 million rose the global box office total to $203.1 million.

To date, the family-friendly film has already raked in $100 million domestically and $200 million worldwide ($96.5 million of that comes from overseas sales).
