The Worm Moon will be "spectacularly bright", according to the Old Farmer's Almanac, and appear about seven per cent larger than a normal full moon.

According to NASA, being the last full moon of winter, this March Supermoon is very well known to the northern tribes of America's Indian as the Crow Moon as it is the signal of the end of winter.

According to the Farmer's Almanac, due to its supermoon status, this year's Worm Moon has been named the Super Worm Moon.

The moon is such a distant scene, and such a bright one at that, but you can still take a decent shot if you just know how.

NEW YORK, NY - MARCH 8: An nearly full moon at 97.6 percent sets behind the Statue of Liberty on March 8, 2020 in New York City.

Spectacular pictures of the "worm" supermoon have been captured lighting up the night sky by photographers around the world. The Super Worm Moon, which can be seen while passing through the orbit where the Moon is closest to the Earth, is known by this name because the worms started to appear with the arrival of the spring season. It'll even be a tiny bit brighter than tonight's moon. We'll have two full moons this October.

Coronavirus: Italy extends measures to entire country
The whole of Italy is being put on lockdown as the country tries to contain the coronavirus outbreak. South Korea now has some 7,313 cases, and Sunday said its rate of infection was slowing.

Through Wednesday, a full worm supermoon will be visible in the sky.

Dr Masi said: "Supermoon is a popular term indicating a Full Moon or New Moon happening when our satellite is close to its perigee, that is its minimum distance from the Earth". Names were given to full moons by the native American Indians.

The closest full supermoon of the 21st century will occur on December 6, 2052. "By the same token, a Full Moon may also happen when it happens to be passing its Apogee", RC Kapoor, former professor, Indian Institute of Astrophysics, told BM. The moon is high in the sky, and that's where we capture it, but it doesn't have to be.

Astronomers have predicted that the worm moon will be visible across from the sun at around 547pm GMT.

"At night, the Full Moon is very bright, nearly dazzling, compared to the darkness of the landscape".
