OHL season put on hold

"The SIJHL fully supports this very hard, but necessary decision by Hockey Canada and the Canadian Junior Hockey League to cancel the remainder of the playing season", offered commissioner Bryan Graham.

As a result, all hockey-related activities, including respective League Playoffs, the CJHL's four regional championship events (Fred Page Cup; Dudley-Hewitt Cup; ANAVET Cup; Doyle Cup) and the Centennial Cup Canadian National Junior A Championship will not be held.

CHL president Dan MacKenzie said in a tweet he is meeting today, March 12, with the WHL commissioner Ron Robison, OHL commissioner David Branch and QMJHL commissioner Gilles Courteau.

Winnipeg has five games remaining on their regular-season schedule. Game 5 was supposed to happen Friday night. The Oil Kings were to host the Hurricanes on Sunday at Rogers Place, which has now gone dark. We will continue to monitor information and developments provided by Manitoba Health, as well as other authorities across our country. Our goal is to return to play when it is safe and reasonable to do so. "We ask for patience and we will be answering questions as fast as we have the answers".

Mackenzie Health selected as dedicated COVID-19 testing centre
Ontario is days away from opening a wave of dedicated COVID-19 assessment centres, the province announced Thursday. Barbara Yaffe said only one of the province's confirmed cases remains in hospital but is improving.
