This full Moon is traditionally called the Snow Moon, Storm Moon, Hunger Moon, Magha Purnima, Magha Puja, the Mahamuni Pagoda Festival Moon, the Chinese Lantern Festival Moon, and the Full Moon of Tu B'Shevat.

February's supermoon previous year over London.

The second full moon of winter, also known as the Snow Moon, has been appearing starting on Friday evening and will last until Monday morning. "It's great to have more people to look up in the sky and appreciate it".

This means it appears up to 14 per cent larger and 30 per cent brighter than normal, when viewed from Earth. As with most full Moons, this one has many names, with the most prominent being the Snow Moon.

But commentators disagree on whether it should be described as a "supermoon".

According to astronomer Fred Espenak, the February 9 full moon is a supermoon, because it is within 90 per cent of its closest approach to Earth in a given orbit.

NASA said that this moon is important for several other reasons as well. Astrologer Richard Nolle has listed this year's first supermoon to occur on March 9.

If possible, one of the best times to see the moon is when it is near the horizon, due to an optical illusion that makes it appear even larger due to its relative size compared to buildings, trees and statues in the distance.

Astronomers advise photographers and sky watchers to download applications and maps to track the progress of the moon across the sky to facilitate sightings.

If you reside in a cold part of the world, with shorter days, this Snow Moon is a good opportunity to do something to connect with and express positive energy.

Brazil's Bolsonaro tested for coronavirus, says son
Wajngarten was with Bolsonaro when they met with Trump at the latter's Florida Mar-a-Lago resort. The entire plane containing the Brazilian delegation to America is reported to be contaminated.

Speaking of silly labels, this Moon has many, many names.

"On the evening of the Full Moon on February 9, as evening twilight ends, the brightest of the planets, Venus, will appear in the west-southwest at about 27 degrees above the horizon".

'The planet Saturn will appear next in brightness to the lower left of Jupiter at about 2 degrees above the horizon.

The term "perigee" itself refers to the point during the moon's at which it is nearest to the Earth.

As the moon orbits an ellipse, its closest point, the perigee, will get very close to Earth.

If you don't catch a glimpse of this weekend's full moon, you can look for next month's full "worm moon" - which many people will be calling the "super worm moon", because it can be considered a supermoon - on March 9.

This is the first Supermoon of 2020, according to information available online.

On February 19, the moon will be 221,734 miles from Earth.

In the New York City region, the moon will rise in the east-northeast sky at 4:41 p.m. Saturday, at 5:56 p.m. Sunday and 7:12 p.m. Monday, according to TimeAndDate.com.

And it will be officially full at 10.53 a.m. EST according to NASA's Skycal.
