Prince William & Kate's 'difficult' message to the world

Taking to the Kensington Palace Royal Instagram account, the Duke, 37, and Duchess of Cambridge, 38, posted a selection of photos, including the handmade efforts of the young royal, six.

'To mothers new and old and families spending today together and apart - we are thinking of you all at this hard time.

On Sunday, the mom of three and husband Prince William marked the United Kingdom holiday with an Instagram post that included a photo of Prince George's card that he made for his mom.

The Cambridges noted that the world is facing an incredibly hard time right now and wrote, "To mothers new and old and families spending today together and apart-we are thinking of you all at this hard time".

The next picture was a portrait of the Duke of Cambridge's mum Princess Diana with him and brother Prince Harry as children.

Kate and Prince William reached out to those on the frontlines of the coronavirus outbreak in London last week, visiting first responders to thank them for their work during the health crisis.

One follower commented on how much Kate resembles her mum, writing: "waow The Duchess is totally her mum".

To finish off her look, the duchess wore a plain white T-Shirt and a pair of metallic Hugo Boss heels. "I was hoping they would release photos for Mother's Day and I'm delighted they did".

Princess Eugeine shared a photo showing she and husband Jack Brooksbank standing with her mother Sarah Ferguson, along with the caption: "Happy Mother's Day!".

"I would like to celebrate all the mothers that can't be with their children today because they are saving lives or keeping their distance to keep them and their children safe".

Boris Johnson has said this Mothering Sunday the single best present that we can give - we who owe our mothers so much - is to spare them the risk of catching a very risky disease.

In Australia, Mother's Day is traditionally held on the second Sunday in May which this year falls on May 10.
