Oswego County officials say there are still no confirmed cases of COVID-19 in the county, despite Gov. Andrew Cuomo's Saturday morning press briefing identifying the county as one of two with new cases.

The Florida Department of Health in Bay County (DOH-Bay) is now conducting its contact investigation and working on identifying and notifying individuals who will need to self-monitor for symptoms for a 14-day period.

More information can be found through the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention's website, the Kansas Department of Health and Environment's website or the Lawrence-Douglas County Public Health website.

"We anticipated that increased testing would uncover more cases of COVID-19", Health Director Dr. Adi Pour said.

The department of health said it is not able to release the names of the towns with lab-confirmed positive cases.

Of the 63 known cases, 11 were hospitalized, the county said. However, DCHD also feels it is important to note that many people who are sick have mild symptoms or no symptoms at all.

People who are concerned they may have COVID-19 should self-isolate and call ahead to their primary care provider to be screened over the phone.

In addition to the lack of tests, public health agencies across the country lack the staff to trace the source of new cases, drastically reducing the chances of isolating people who have been exposed and thereby containing the outbreak, the paper reported.

-Every health care worker who returns from travel should consult with a trained medical professional at their facility (e.g., infection preventionist or physician) and establish a specific infection control protocol (e.g., home quarantine, self-monitoring, personal protective equipment while at work) that mitigates patient and co-worker exposures. The person is now self-isolating at home.

"Until we have a vaccine for COVID-19, our community's faithful compliance with social distancing guidelines remains the best defense against the coronavirus", Lincoln Mayor Leirion Gaylor Baird said in the release.
