Hoyer will now be joining the Patriots quarterback room with Jarrett Stidham, who was a fourth-round pick in 2019.

Hoyer brings expert knowledge of New England's offensive system, the trust of the coaching staff, and a skill set that made him intriguing to the Patriots as an undrafted rookie in 2009.

Hoyer was widely reportedly open to a return to New England.

Hoyer was released by the Indianapolis Colts on Saturday, following the team signing Philip Rivers earlier in the week.

Hoyer was behind Brady for two more seasons until Stidham beat him out for the backup gig last August.

The 34-year-old friend of Tom Brady is on the street looking for work. "He was here helping me every day".

Gas Price Drops Below A Dollar At One Gas Station
Gas prices have continually dropped across the United States, with Thursday's national price average at $2.196 per gallon. Mississippi, Oklahoma and Tennessee have at least one gas station selling gas for under $1.30 a gallon, WTVF reported .

Will Brian Hoyer make his first career start with the Patriots?

By contrast, Bucs backup Ryan Griffin has never started a game, and still-a-free-agent QB but soon to re-sign with the Bucs, Blaine Gabbert, is 13-35 as a starter with 48 touchdowns and 47 interceptions.

What other QBs could the Patriots add?

If the Patriots continue to look elsewhere for a potential starting quarterback - and they probably are - the remaining crop of free agents isn't much more encouraging.

The possibility of a trade also remains, and, who knows, maybe the team has big plans for a draft class that is pretty deep in quarterback talent.
