Earlier on Saturday, the administration of Sanjay Gandhi Post Graduate Institute (SGPGI) of Medical Sciences in Lucknow, where Kapoor is admitted, had accused her of throwing celebrity tantrums. Kapoor has outright denied any negligence on her part.

A senior health department official acknowledged the FIR contained an error, conceding that only a lab test - and not an airport check-up - can establish that someone is "coronavirus positive".

At the same time, reports of Kanika colluding with airport authorities and escaping screening emerges. The two had talked about the alleged laxity exhibited by health authorities over text, Bakshi said.
