Doubles Storage Supports Child Mode And Screen Time

When Apple TV has been brought up lately, its mostly been to talk about Apple TV+ and all of the content rolling out on Apple's new streaming platform.

This move would not be surprising, as Apple now requires users to download Apple Arcade games to the Apple TV to play.

Apple will likely introduce tvOS at WWDC this year, an event which is now an online-only event due to the coronavirus. Apple TV was last updated more than two years ago.

tvOS will reportedly include a new Kids Mode feature that will allow parents to restrict access to certain programs and specific apps. It will reportedly feature a brand new and immersive design tailor-made for children. While we had still hoped to see one a bit sooner - the Apple TV 4K is now nearly three years old - sources say that Apple isn't expected to even announced the new set-top box until November or December.

It will also feature Tim McGraw , the Backstreet Boys and Green Day frontman Billie Joe Armstrong . The artists will use their personal cell phones, cameras and audio equipment during the broadcast.

While we'd love to say that the Apple TV 2020 will be cheaper than the current range, we highly doubt Apple will drop the price.

We can also expect a nice storage bump on the next-gen Apple TV. As reported by 9to5Mac, the beta code revealed a new Apple TV with codename "T1125", with the T representing an internal model - probably a prototype - that isn't quite ready for prime time just yet. From a deign perspective, the set top box won't be changing much - of at all - but the remote is getting a makeover. In addition, the new Apple TV may also be equipped with A12 or A13 bionic chips, which brings stronger processing performance. The storage is set to be upgraded from 23- and 64GB to 64- and 128GB respectively, offering more space for users to download Apple Arcade titles, and although it won't be exclusive to the new model, the upcoming Apple TV will launch alongside a new Kids Mode. What this means is users will be able to create a separate account for their kids and control which applications can be used on those accounts.

On the tvOS front, there's going to be a lot more in the way of parental controls, which works out well as Apple is also rumoured to be working on content specifically for kids, with the new OS including "kids mode". The Verifier report mentions that the company is working on "redesigned Apple TV+ with a greater focus on content", but there is no information available on this as of yet.
