13-year-old boy dies of Covid-19 in the United Kingdom

A 13-year-old boy with no apparent underlying health conditions has died in London after testing positive for coronavirus, his family says.

As of 5pm on April 1, of those hospitalised in the United Kingdom who tested positive for coronavirus, 2,921 have died, an increase of 569.

"He was only 13 years old without any pre-existing health conditions and sadly he died without any family members close by due to the highly infectious nature of Covid 19".

"To our knowledge, he had no underlying health conditions".

The United Kingdom has one of the worst official death tolls in the world, after Italy, Spain, the United States, France, China and Iran.

"While the old are much more likely to die from coronavirus infection, the young are certainly not immune from it", said Clarke.
