China warns against epidemic rebound with rising risks of imported cases

Republicans in Congress, pointing to a report by Bloomberg citing United States intelligence, expressed outrage that Beijing apparently misled the global community on China's infections and deaths that began in late 2019 in the city of Wuhan.

Beijing has also indefinitely banned foreigners from entering the country to curb the so-called imported cases involving travellers from overseas, though it has chartered planes to repatriate Chinese nationals in countries with severe outbreaks.

Citing the report at a press conference on Wednesday, Trump said that China's official coronavirus figures seem to be on the "light side".

On Tuesday a member of Trump's coronavirus task force, doctor Deborah Birx, said the medical community saw China's outbreak as "serious but smaller than anyone expected because I think probably we were missing a significant amount of the data". We're doing that, ' Pompeo asserted.
