Radomir Antic, famed for coaching Real Madrid, Atletico Madrid and Barcelona, has died aged 71.

"With him I personally learned to win, with him I learned to live with passion - the things that they make you better as a man and as a professional. Rest in peace", the club tweeted.

Antic had three separate spells in charge at the club and was one of only two people to coach El Clasico rivals Real and Barca during their career, after Enrique Fernandez Viola.

Spanish sports daily Marca said Antic had been suffering from a serious illness for a long time.

The Serbian coached Los Blancos between 1991 and 1992, occupied the Nou Camp dugout in 2003, but enjoyed most of his success during three spells with Atletico, winning the LaLiga and Copa del Rey double in the 1995-96 season.

Real Madrid also paid tribute to its former manager, saying it was "deeply saddened" by the news.

He also led Serbia to qualify for the 2010 World Cup, then going on to work in China.

The statement reads: "All those who knew Radomir will from now on have emptiness in their heart, and Serbia can be proud to have had such a man who was overseas and represented a source of pride".

"We have learned with great sadness the death of our former player Radomir Antic who sweated the striped jersey and played an important role in the championship we won in the 1977-78 season", the Istanbul club said on Twitter.

"A true Hatters hero, for promotion and preventing relegation".

Born in Zitiste, Antic represented Sloboda Uzice, Partizan Belgrade, Fenerbahce and Real Zaragoza before spending four years in Bedfordshire, retiring in 1984 after 17 years as a player. "Rest in peace, Raddy", the club tweeted.
