There are now 63 people in acute care in hospital and 16 are in critical care.

No new cases were reported on Vancouver Island, with the total still sitting at 125. Within the Interior Health Region, only two people with COVID-19 are hospitalized.

As B.C. looks towards a gradual reopening of the economy and social interactions, starting on the upcoming long weekend, the numbers are promising that the rate of transmission continues to fall, though provincial health officer Bonnie Henry warned Monday that "COVID-19 has not gone away". We offer our condolences to the family, friends and caregivers of this individual, and to everyone who has lost their loved ones.

There are no new outbreaks in a long-term care facility.

Of those active cases, 63 are in hospital, 16 of whom are in critical care.

"That is excellent news", Henry said.

There has been one additional death in the last 24 hours, bringing the total number of COVID-19 related deaths in the province to 131.

The NHL wants to increase its media footprint, and that alone is reason to resume play. But it also is working on schedules that start in November, December or January.

Today, a provincewide survey - called Your story, our future - has been launched to hear about your experiences and actions in the COVID-19 pandemic so far.

The survey can be completed online at www.bccdc.ca/covid19survey. Assistance is available seven days a week between 8:30 a.m. and 4:30 p.m.

"The information we gather will help inform the decisions we make in the weeks and months ahead", Henry said.

"I did see lots of people but you know what, the vast majority of them were in small groups, they were sitting apart from each other, they were socializing, they were out in the sun", Dr. Henry said.

Despite many people getting outside to the parks and beaches over the weekend to enjoy the sun, B.C.'s top health officials say it was done the right way. Thank you for all you do.

"But just to be clear, we can not - we just can not - get ahead of ourselves". "Let's keep doing our part to keep our curve flat".
