Arthur is expected to stay at sea, but waves from the storm will continue to produce rough seas and rip currents along the mid-Atlantic and southeast coasts, forecasters said. There has been a named storm system before June 1, the official start of hurricane season, every year since 2015.

The latest forecast from the U.S. National Hurricane Center said, "At 500 AM EDT [0900 UTC], the center of Tropical Storm Arthur was located near latitude 37.0 North, longitude 70.6 West. Arthur is moving toward the east-northeast near 15 miles per hour [24 km/h]".

The National Hurricane Center said the storm could drop between two and seven centimeters of rain on North Carolina. Other areas along the coast saw 2 inches (5 cm) or more, causing some secondary roads to flood.

The Miami-based federal agency issued a storm warning for North Carolina shoreline from Surf City to Duck, as well as Pamlico and Albemarle Sounds. Any remaining storms weren't around the center of circulation but instead along the front. The storm's sustained winds remained around 60 miles per hour.

North Carolina Emergency Management Director Mike Sprayberry said conditions were stable apart from some minor flooding in the Outer Banks, and no other serious problems had been reported to the state, but he warned that people should remain cautious around the water even as the storm pushes out to sea.

The Bermuda Weather Service forecast for today said: "Tropical Storm Arthur will pass to our distant northwest tomorrow before it is then projected to re-curve and possibly pass to our near north as a post-tropical system". "Today is not the day to take risks at the beach or in the surf".

The hurricane center said its 10 a.m. CDT advisory on Arthur will be the last one on the storm.

Local forecasters in the Bahamas said showers have lingered over the islands of Grand Bahama and Abaco, which are still struggling to recover after being hit by a Category 5 hurricane past year.
