Preparations also are underway to open the city's skate park, located at Thomson Park, and the off-leash dog park at Champlain Park, which is operated by the North Bay & District Humane Society.

Provincial orders remain in effect prohibiting the use of play structures, swings, slides, splash and spray pads, wading pools and exercise equipment, the release said.

Fourteen skateboard parks opened yesterday, and all 150 basketball courts are scheduled to open this weekend, along with picnic shelters, 300 baseball diamonds and 300 outdoor fields. Team play is not permitted.

The city also reminds people to avoid touching other people's sports equipment such as soccer balls and baseballs. Team sports are not allowed unless the members are from the same household. Greenhouses, nurseries and conservatories, High Park Zoo and Riverdale Farm also remain closed.

The City's COVID-19 Enforcement Team will continue monitoring popular parks across the city to ensure residents are practising physical distancing.

Since March all recreation programs were canceled and parks have been closed including all the amenities.

In keeping with physical distancing measures, if you arrive at a park space that is too busy or crowded, the city asks that you wait until there is enough space to properly practice physical distancing or return at another time.
