"I wore one in this back area, but I didn't want to give the press the pleasure of seeing it".

US President Donald Trump visited a Ford Motor Co plant on Thursday, and was spotted without a face ask yet again.

On the same day, President Trump tweeted that he would order US flags lowered to half-staff for three days in honor of Americans who have died from the novel coronavirus.

Prior to the president's visit, Michigan's attorney general Dana Nessel had warned that wearing a face mask was the law in the state - and if Mr Trump failed to do so, he would be told not to return to enclosed facilities there. "It's standard", Trump said, while speaking at a Michigan Ford factory tour, after a reporter asked if he's concerned about the second wave.

The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention recommends individuals wear snug-fitting cloth masks in public settings to help prevent the possible spread of the coronavirus from the mask-wearing individual to others.

"The White House has its own safety and testing policies in place and will make its own determination", Ford spokesperson Rachel McCleery said on Tuesday.

President Trump holds a mask as he speaks during a tour of the Ford Rawsonville Plant in Ypsilanti, Mich., Thursday. Trump first tweeted - erroneously - that the Democratic state official had mailed absentee ballots to MI voters.

"Honestly I think I look better in a mask,"Trump added jokingly. You'll break the country if you don't". Trump on Wednesday threatened to withhold federal funding from MI over its plan for expanded mail-in voting, saying without offering evidence that the practice could lead to voter fraud - though he later appeared to back off the threat. Trump first tweeted - falsely - that the Democratic state official had mailed absentee ballots to MI voters. He later sent a corrected tweet specifying that applications to request absentee ballots had been mailed.

Trump won narrowly in MI in the 2016 election, the first Republican to do since 1988. He insists mail-in voting is ripe for fraud, although there is scant evidence of wrongdoing.

Two-thirds (67%) said Trump should be wearing a mask when he is in public, while less than 3 in 10 (27%) said he should not, according to a new Quinnipiac University national poll. "But there's a reason for it, that's okay". Ford organised a roundtable discussion with African-American leaders about the vulnerable populations hit by the virus. Trump to not wear a mask inside.

But the U.S. now has a surplus of the breathing machines, leading Trump to begin describing the United States as the "king of ventilators".

Trump's visit also comes amid tensions over federal resources for MI, which has been hit by devastating floods.

"There's a possibility that the assault of the virus on our nation next winter will actually be even more hard than the one we just went through", the CDC director said. "I made the case that, you know, we all have to be on the same page here. We've got to stop demonising one another and, really, focus on the fact that the common enemy is the virus".
