South Africa hopeful of home India series in August

Cricket South Africa (CSA) has already had to postpone a limited overs series in Sri Lanka, but has earmarked the visit by India to raise much-needed revenue.

"The unlikeliest scenario is that the season will start as normal", he said in a virtual press conference on Thursday.

There is speculation that IPL 13 might be conducted in October-November if the ICC T20 World Cup in Australia gets postponed.

"The flavour of IPL is that best players of the world come and play, and everyone is committed to maintaining that flow", Johri said overnight, adding global players' decision to participate or not would be respected.

"Cricket will not be going to be the identical, the method can be completely different. Obviously, if things are on track, we would play in South Africa", the official told PTI. This will relate specifically to the potential of an incoming Indian tour.

In India, as per the Ministry of Home Affairs guidelines, the stadiums are being opened but no spectators will be allowed. "They are an agile association and can make it happen".

"Hopefully things will improve and give us more variables which we can control and accordingly take the decision".

A BCCI official said that the possibility of the series getting under way is possible they get an all clearance from the government.

Meanwhile, an IPL franchise told IANS that they were indeed working on the road ahead with an eye on the end-September to early-November window as it would take at least a month's planning leading up to the league when it comes to advertising and marketing.

The proposed series would also have an impact other series for South Africa.
