The Premier ruled that there would be no chances of new romance and declared mingling with strangers was frowned upon.

Trying to envision a society where we're all seated at pubs as if knights at a round table is totally weird and alien but I kind of dig it.

The four-square metre rule will also mean no close contact or cuddling for couples and dates in restaurants.

Buffets will remain banned, as will shared cutlery.

"If you have got symptoms, if you are unwell, we really do encourage you to stay home and get tested", she said in Canberra.

Deputy Premier John Barilaro mentioned the transfer was a huge increase for regional areas.

"It's our happy hour - it's time to wine and dine", he said on Friday.

Mr Hazzard said people going to restaurants should be "washing your hands like you've never done before".

Target owner Wesfarmers announced that as many as 75 of its stores across the country will close, placing more than 1,000 workers at risk of losing their jobs.

"However, this will be with very strict guidelines in place, it has to be in adherence to the four square metre rules, so some venues are small in space, they will only be able to have as many customers as is allowed in that space according to the four square metre rule".

While the Premier didn't mention small bars, distilleries and breweries in the announcement today, they are also now allowed to open as long as liquor is served "with, or ancillary to, food in an area for eating" per the NSW Government legislation.

NSW Treasurer Dominic Perrottet said the Government was moving to swiftly and safely get businesses back in business and people back to work.

The Premier added that the NSW taskforce had been focused on making sure the roadmap to recovery was one with safety at its forefront, but also acknowledged that many businesses and operators would not survive the shutdown.

Minister for Customer Service Victor Dominello, who is responsible for liquor and gaming regulation, said the NSW Government had liaised exhaustively with both AHA and ClubsNSW to deliver this plan.

Accommodation Australia CEO Dean Long said the announcement recognised the importance of protecting the NSW economy and the 26,000 directly employed in the NSW accommodation industry.

South Australia is allowing a venues to host 10 diners outdoors, 10 indoors and serve alcohol from June 5.

The Northern Territory opened pubs on 15 May with no numbers cap.
