N'Golo Kante has been allowed to stay away from Chelsea's return to training due to his coronavirus fears.

Speaking in an interview quoted by Sky Sports, Henderson said: "I fully respect their opinion and their decision to do that".

Chelsea have seen several other previously injured players come back after being out before the shutdown, including the likes of Abraham, Mateo Kovacic and Christian Pulisic.

"Everybody's situation is different but ultimately, for me, I feel very safe here at the training ground, otherwise I wouldn't be here. If any of my team-mates felt like that, I would fully support them and back them until they felt it was right to come back".

The French World Cup victor joined Frank Lampard's squad on Tuesday as Chelsea resumed training following the Premier League's decision to allow limited training sessions.

Meanwhile, Harry Maguire was impressed with the safety measures as Manchester United returned to training on Wednesday.

The former Leicester City star lost his older brother, Niama, to a heart attack before the World Cup in 2018 and the midfielder also lost his father when he was 11 years old.

Midfielder Kante is understood to have mostly remained indoors with one of his brothers since the suspension of the Premier League season on 13 March.

The 31-year-old brought up certain studies that show that the virus affects people of various ethnicities differently, and that his newly born son has had breathing issues, and therefore does not want to put his life in jeopardy.
