Antifa to be designated as terrorist organization, Trump says

The United States will be designating left-wing militant movement Antifa as a terrorist organization, President Donald Trump announced. Even the White House went into partial lockdown late on Friday due to protests nearby.

Curfews were imposed and the National Guard deployed in several states.

Trump's announcement of designating "ANTIFA" as a terrorist organization shouldn't come as a surprise.

"Other Democrat run Cities and States should look at the total shutdown of Radical Left Anarchists in Minneapolis last night", the president continued.

On Twitter Mr Trump blamed "Antifa-led anarchists" and "Radical Left Anarchists" for the unrest, again without providing more specifics.

He urged other cities and states to do the same.

In an earlier tweet today, Mr Trump praised the efforts of the Nationaal Guard in stopping the riots.

Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez of NY tweeted that she has questioned the Federal Bureau of Investigation on why domestic terror labels are not applied to white supremacist groups. While domestic terrorism is defined in the 2001 Patriot Act bill - and law enforcement could use the designation to seek enhanced powers to investigate members of the group - there are no current designated domestic terrorist organizations.

"As long as everybody understands what they are doing, that they are FAKE NEWS and truly bad people with a sick agenda, we can easily work through them to GREATNESS!" the president wrote.
