The agent of former Nigeria global Odion Ighalo has confirmed Manchester United and Chinese Super League club Shanghai Shenhua have edged closer to agreeing on extending the forward's loan stint.

The club remain locked in talks with Chinese Super League side Shanghai Shenhua - Ighalo's parent club - but are hopeful of agreeing a deal before his current loan agreement expires on Sunday.

Ighalo has four goals and one assist across competitions since he joined them earlier in the year, and if he concludes the season with them, there are chances he will add to the tally.

The proposed loan extension will run until the end of January, when Ighalo will return to Shanghai.

The striker is due to return to China at the end of May, but the possible reappearance of the 2019/20 Premier League season has led to talks of the agreement being extended.

Demonstrators are angry not just over Floyd's death, but years of police killings and violence against unarmed African Americans. Floyd, who is black, was then arrested and handcuffed by Officer Derek Chauvin, who is white, and pushed to the ground.

The Covid-19 pandemic and subsequent postponement of football has seen clubs agree to temporarily extend the deals of out-of-contract players so as to allow them to play out the season.

Ighalo initially joined Ole Gunnar Solskjaer's United in a shock deadline-day move in January after the club had missed out on signing Norwegian star Erling Haaland to Borussia Dortmund.

Ighalo's current deal in China is up in December 2022.

"It's been a dream for him and hopefully he can finish off what he started, hopefully with a trophy for us".

"The loan deal went to the end of May, so obviously he's supposed to be going back", Solskjaer told United's official website this week. At the moment, nothing has been agreed.
