The new Santa Fe sits on Hyundai's "third-generation" platform that underpins the latest Sonata and is the first SUV to appear on the platform. "Besides, we've added numerous features and functions to create a truly family-focused SUV that is a pleasure to drive", said SangYup Lee, senior VP and head of Hyundai's Global Design Center.

The original TM Santa Fe's front end is already a bold one with three tiers of lighting. Updates include new T-shaped LED daytime running lights, a redesigned radiator grille, a pair of subtly tweaked bumpers, wider wheel arches and a new, full-width LED tail light.

The rear end of the vehicle features new LED elements for the tail lamps, while now there is also a new LED bar that horizontally runs across the entire boot lid, and connects the two tail lights.

While pricing has not been announced, expect an increase over the 2020 Hyundai Santa Fe, which starts at $26,275 for the base front-drive SE model with the 2.4-liter engine. The dual-tone rear bumper has silver inserts and a reflector strip that runs across the width of the bumper. Hyundai says a "Luxury Package" that contains 20-inch wheels and body-coloured wheelarches.

The 2020 Santa Fe's redesigned interior now provides more space, comfort, and convenience compared to the previous model.

On the fresh centre console, the controls are all new and the traditional shifter has been replaced by buttons. Plus, the entire center console has supposedly been reworked for better ergonomics and to allow for bigger storage up front. The auto gets a 10.25-inch touchscreen infotainment system that is equipped with smartphone connectivity, satellite-based voice-guided navigation, and of course, complete in-car entertainment. A plug-in hybrid Santa Fe has been confirmed for other places around the world, but not yet the U.S. The new platform allows significant improvements in performance, handling, fuel efficiency and safety. The vehicle also now comes with a Terrain Mode selector, which is positioned in the centre console. The new Santa Fe's will feature a shift-by-wire system, which uses buttons instead of conventional shift knob.

A new platform means new engines.

The Santa Fe doesn't just get a new face - it sits on a new platform as well.

The 7-seater uses Hyundai's "third-generation" architecture, which already underpins the Sonata sedan on sale in the USA market. NVH levels have been improved through reinforced sound-absorbing systems in vibration-sensitive components. Hyundai has also fitted a new 12.3-inch digital instrument cluster and 10.25-inch infotainment screen with support for Apple CarPlay and Android Auto - and, like the old model, a head-up display is available on the higher-specced Premium SE variant.
