Revealed earlier today, Elite Dangerous: Odyssey is scheduled for release in early 2021 for PC and consoles.

The latest big move to come out of Elite Dangerous is new upcoming DLC called Odyssey which focuses player attention away from fancy spaceships onto more on foot adventures. The studio announced a major expansion coming towards the first end of 2021, and it will bring a whole new dynamic for players to experience.

Found on Frontier Developments YouTube channel, the new trailer was accidentally posted ahead of an official announcement.

Elite Dangerous's newest expansion, Odyssey, will allow players to step off their ships, walk on planets, engage in first-person fights, complete contracts, and much more.

Extending coverage to the super-fine scale that is needed for on-foot gameplay while maintaining the vast raw distances measured in light-years is a huge achievement by the team and greatly extends the already rich Elite Dangerous experience.

USA stocks end mixed following disappointing data
Economists polled by Reuters had forecast the unemployment rate jumping to 19.8% in May and payrolls falling by 8 million jobs. The Nasdaq also breached its all-time closing high reached in February, but pared its gains to end the session a bit below it.

Elite is known for being the space-faring franchise that's all about being inside of your own starship, never really venturing beyond the cockpit like those that have iterated on the formula. Speaking of which, we'll be "coordinating with teammates" and given "a wide variety of missions, ranging from diplomacy and commerce to lethal stealth and all-out combat".

There will be social hubs spread throughout the galaxy where travelers can form alliances, procure services, and find expert support in "highly coveted Engineers".

Before all you children were spending your hours messing around in No Man's Sky, us old folks were doing the same thing but with fewer pastel colours in Elite: Dangerous. What is your favorite space simulation title? It's likely more concrete details about what players can do while on a planet and where they can explore will release closer to winter 2020.

For now, it's unclear if the expansion will be free or not.
