Work from home is Twitter’s new normal forever

After Google and Facebook, who recently announced that some of its employees will be able to work from home until the end of 2020, another US giant is taking a similar measure.

The social media platform was one of the first companies to implement the "work from home" strategy in the face of Covid-19 and has expressed their intent to ensure that employees who's roles enable them to work remotely can continue to do so, forever.

The social media site also said staff would be able to go back to the office if they choose when it reopens, as the company looks towards a post-COVID-19 future.

While some employees can work from home indefinitely, others working in posts that require physical presence, such as maintaining servers, will still be requested to return, when necessary.

"The past few months have proven we can make that work". Opening offices will be the company's decision, when and if the employees return, will be their decision.

The company does not expect to open most of its offices, or support business travel, before September.

"We were uniquely positioned to respond quickly and allow folks to work from home given our emphasis on decentralization and supporting a distributed workforce capable of working from anywhere", a Twitter press statement reads.

Nintendo Might Pull Out of Mobile Gaming
Nintendo's smartphone releases include Super Mario Run , Dragalia Lost , Fire Emblem Heroes and Animal Crossing: Pocket Camp . But even if Nintendo were willing to go down that path, it would be unsuccessful, he added.

Other companies such as Google, Facebook, and Microsoft were also quick to institute work-from-home policies due to the pandemic.

"This donation will support food security, housing access, and small business and worker support programs for undocumented, mixed status, and low-income San Franciscans", she wrote in a tweet thanking Dorsey for the contribution.

Obviously things are subject to change, though Twitter seems much more likely to push it back, if anything, based on the language.

Twitter has "strongly encouraged" working from home since 2 March and mandated employees to work from home starting 11 March.

He further said that the company would reassess the plans for 2021 later in the months to come.

Perhaps one of the more generous outcomes of this policy is the fact that allowance for work from home supplies has been increased to US$1,000 for all employees. However, Twitter has started looking at the challenges facing the new normal, it remains to be seen how this passes too.
