Barcelona set to exchange Arthur for Miralem Pjanic with Juventus

Barcelona midfielder Arthur Melo will arrive in Turin later Saturday for a medical before moving to Serie A champions Juventus in exchange for Miralem Pjanic, according to reports in Italy. Juve have also agreed to pay an additional 10 million euros in variables, Barca's statement added.

Arthur, 23, has made 72 appearances for Barcelona since joining the Catalan club from Gremio in 2018.

"The player will sign a contract with the club for the next four seasons, until the end of the 2023/24 season, with a buy out clause of 400 million euros".

But, the dreaded second season syndrome has struck for the Brazilian worldwide, who has seen his role reduce considerably this term, sharing game time with the likes of Ivan Rakitic and Arturo Vidal, both of whom are hardly primary options at the club.

Arthur's departure puts more scrutiny on Barcelona's board and president Josep Maria Bartomeu.

Setien said in a press conference on Monday the playmaker had promised to give his all for the rest of the season as Barcelona look to make up a two-point gap on Real Madrid at the top of the table.

"I don't doubt for a minute the professionalism and the honesty of the players until the last day".
