In a video tweet posted Tuesday, developer 2K revealed that the Portland Trail Blazers star will be the cover star for current generation console players and is one of three cover athletes to be announced this week. Lillard's cover will grace the PlayStation 4, Xbox One, Nintendo Switch, and Windows PC releases of National Basketball Association 2K21.

Lillard is the first Portland player to be featured on the cover of a 2K game, but he was previously the cover athlete for NBA 2K Online 2, a copy-cat version released in China, as well as the cover athlete of EA Sports NBA Live 15.

Damian Lillard grew up playing "NBA 2K", so he knows it's a big deal to appear on the cover of one of the yearly editions of the popular video game. Every time I come across a game that is my favorite year of a game, the way that you recognize it is by "A.I. was on that cover" or 'Kobe was on that cover, ' that was my favorite one. The phone camera pans up to show that it's none other than five-time NBA All-Star Damian Lillard.
