In Bolton's bombshell tell-all book about his former boss, he revealed Trump's odd comment at the meeting with former British Prime Minister Teresa May two years ago. I am hard-pressed to identify any significant Trump decision during my White House tenure that wasn't driven by reelection calculations. Pompeo, a staunch Trump ally, hit back by calling Bolton a "traitor" but did not address that particular account.

Bolton has kept a low profile since parting ways with the administration, refusing to testify to House investigators during Trump's impeachment inquiry, but entered the spotlight recently ahead of the publication of his memoir, titled The Room Where It Happened. He went on to call Bolton a "traitor who damaged America by violating his sacred trust with its people".

"In 2016, I voted for Trump over Hillary Clinton", Bolton told the Telegraph. He has exposed his country to harm and himself to civil (and potentially criminal) liability, ' the judge wrote.

The theme of Bolton's book, according to the early reviews, is that Trump put his re-election above that.

Trump's conversations with Xi reflected not only the incoherence in his trade policy but also the confluence in Trump's mind of his own political interests and USA national interests. "Just trying to get even for firing him like the sick puppy he is!", Trump said. It said Bolton has fully cooperated with the NSC pre-publication review.

The Kremlin has not yet read the book by ex-US National Security Advisor John Bolton, spokesman Dmitry Peskov said on Thursday, when asked about the Kremlin's stand on the published fragments, particularly those on talks between US President Donald Trump and Russian President Vladimir Putin.

Trump fired Bolton last September after roughly 17 months as national security adviser.

Publishers Simon & Schuster and Bolton's lawyer Charles Cooper welcomed the ruling.

The book is widely expected to be unflattering.
