Facebook passwords stolen by 25 malicious Android apps

When you want to share a file or multiple files, after selection, tap the Share button. Moreover, a user can only be visible to users in their contacts. While Tinder rules the overall leaderboard across both App Store and Google Play - earning about $433 million - the dating app plays second fiddle to Google One in the Android marketplace.

Google has been working on a similar feature for Android called Nearby Share; the company confirmed with Android Police that a beta version of Nearby Share is being disseminated through the Play Services beta.

Just last month, Google ditched more than 50 apps from its Play Store over concerns the software they could fill devices with annoying adware, which could leave Android users with a phone that's constantly being bombarded with unwanted and adverts.

Based on the report, Nearby Share works similarly to Apple's Airdrop function but with some minor differences.

The folks over at AP found Nearby Share pretty simple to use.

Twenty-five malicious Android apps that were secretly created to steal Facebook account credentials have been deleted from the Google Play Store.

Now, you can Turn On the Nearby Share feature after selecting the Device Visibility.

For the uninitiated, Nearby Sharing lets users share files with devices in the supported proximity without much hassle.

Once you have enabled Nearby Share, your phone will start to look for others with the feature turned on.

The shared content will end up in the appropriate location. In this way, users are able to see the map in the back easily. If affected, you should reset your Facebook password and update your security settings - enabling two-factor authentication is always a good bet - right away.

Like with many stock Android features, Nearby Share is a more streamlined and standardized feature that addresses a problem other OEMs have tried to solve themselves.
